Meet Rich Jortberg — 2026–2028 Board of Directors Candidate

Rich Jortberg, Independent Adjuster

Statement of Interest

I am honored to be nominated for a position on the NACA Board of Directors. My interest in serving on the Board stems from my six-year commitment as a volunteer on the NACA Education Committee, where I have worked with a dedicated team to strengthen and diversify the educational offerings at the annual conference. Together, we’ve made great progress in reviewing and soliciting session topics that appeal to adjusters at all levels—from those just entering the profession to seasoned experts.

I would appreciate your support for my nomination.  I am confident that my experience and dedication can contribute meaningfully to NACA's ongoing success - particularly in the area of education.  I am eager to help NACA contine its mission of advancing excellence, professionalism, and knowledge in catastrophe adjusting.

Biography

Rich Jortberg began his adjusting career in 2005 during Hurricane Wilma—a year that saw historic activity with hurricanes Irene, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma striking within a few short months. Recruited by a friend who owned an adjusting business, he entered the field during this unprecedented period of need and quickly learned the profession through hands-on experience. Soon after, he attended his first NACA convention, recognizing the importance of continued education in this demanding industry.

Since then, he has been deployed in numerous storms and has worked extensively with Pacesetter Claim Service and Provencher & Company, handling both catastrophe and daily claims. In addition to adjusting work, Rich holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute—the highest credential for commercial real estate appraisers. He also earned a graduate degree in real estate finance and served for eight years on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, during which he helped build more than 35 homes. These experiences have given him a strong foundation in both the technical and human sides of property and claims work.

Rich enjoys adjusting because of the challenge and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives after a disaster. Outside of work, Rich has been married to wife Bonnie for 32 years, and he credits her unwavering support and flexibility in helping him achieve success in his adjuster career. They have two daughters, the oldest holding a doctorate in physical therapy and their youngest is a World Cup skier for the United States, working toward a place on the Olympic team. They are also excited to become grandparents by the time of the 2026 NACA Convention.
